Family Story

JER-Z-BOYZ Ranch was started in 1995 by Gary & Donna de Graaf and their two sons Dustin and Daniel. Gary’s decision to switch from Holsteins to Jerseys on their farm in Pixley, CA, was not a popular decision at that time. However, it’s proven to be a valuable choice with nearly 5,000 milking Jerseys in the herd today. The ability of these cows to last for multiple lactations has allowed for expansion, as well as selling fresh Jersey replacements throughout the West. The herd has developed a distinct flair for flow with components, fertility, and trouble-free cows with longevity.

Over the years, JER-Z-BOYZ has always kept a portion of the herd identified through programs at US Jersey and in 2017 made the decision to put 100% of the herd on REAP. What began in the world of Black & White, changed over to a sea of brown and soon convinced the de Graaf family that the Jersey cow can provide for her caretakers. The Jersey cow is resilient, efficient and has an unmatched ability to help support this farm’s mission statement: “Provide Protein to Feed the World.”

Jer-Z-Boyz Ranch takes great pride in our employees and the cattle they care for.  This photo taken in 2012 is a perfect example of the goals Gary and Donna set out when they began Jer-Z-Boyz Ranch. The four cows produced just shy of one million pounds of milk during their careers here at Jer-Z-Boyz Ranch!  We are truly humbled and grateful for all of their contributions.
